Colibri Cocktail Garden, Sofia
Usually we find new places in Sofia by word of mouth or thanks to our favourite lifestyle online magazines. But when we accidentally stumble on a gem like this – it is a really satisfying feeling. Two or three years ago we found Colibri cocktail bar quite by accident. It was a hot summer evening and we were wandering around the streets in the center thinking where should we go for a drink. And there it was – situated between two gray buildings – all white cocktail bar with a garden. It almost looked like it doesn’t belong there. Once you go in you start to feel like you are somewhere at the seaside. The white and blue colors can successfully fool you that you are chilling by the beach instead of spending the lazy summer day in the busy city.
Ever since then it became one of our favourite summer spots in Sofia. We have a feeling that not that many people know about it and it seems a bit more special. It is definitely not as overcrowded as the cafes and bars on the main pedestrian street Vitoshka (we avoid this street like the plague).
In the afternoons you can go with your laptop and in the evenings gather some friends for cocktails. Give the strawberry Mojito a try, but beware you won’t be able to resist and drink just one. It’s one of the best in the city in our opinion. During the day there are often people visiting by themselves reading a book or chilling in between meetings. Don’t be sad that it’s working only in the summer because Colibri has a full time working sister venue – 65 Светулки / Aperitivo Bar (65 Fireflies). The Mojito is as good as it’s here but there the must-try cocktail is the Aperol Spritz. And they have really delicious food.
You probably won’t find Colibri in the guidebooks which is another reason to go. If you want to feel more like a local instead of going to the touristic places, now you know where to go for a drink.
