+Tova cafe and working space, Sofia, Bulgaria

+ Tova is a multipurpose cafe with a friendly vibe and a cozy interior perfect for working or having a lazy afternoon with a friend or why not by yourself reading a book. The venue focuses on art events and exhibitions, workshops and everything fun that can create a small society of like-minded people.

It is located in the city center but the fact that it is a bit off the beaten path makes it the perfect quiet spot. In fact, this is one of the few cafes in Sofia where you can actually get some work done. There’s wi-fi, the prices are more than reasonable so you can get your breakfast, lunch and coffee without getting broke and there’s usually a nice relaxing music in the background. Throughout the years we’ve found that the place is suitable for studying for exams, working on on the blog (or any other digital job for that matter), relaxing with a cup of tea or even wrapping last minute presents. The walk around the neighborhood is definitely worth it because it shows a bit more of the “old” Sofia and you can observe many beautiful buildings  – some transformed into elegant embassies, others in a beautiful decay.

The place is spacious and the interior is versatile so it can easily transform from a cafe to a kids birthday venue or an office for a corporate meeting or presentation. It also suits the many art events and exhibitions that are happening here. The wooden interior is created by the Bulgarian interior studio Funk. Their style is very recognizable and can be seen in some of the best cafes and restaurants around the city. Most of the furniture are designed by Bulgarian artists and can be easily purchased so if you suddenly fall in love with a minimal chair or you are in need of a new couch, then don’t hesitate to ask the staff for more info. You can also find a small selection of products including organic food, jewelry and ceramics from Bulgarian independent brands near the entrance.

Time to talk about the food and drinks because let’s face it – a working space can’t go without a strong coffee, good snacks and warm tea. + Tova has all three and more! In the summer you can treat yourself with lemonade, homemade ice tea or our favourite elderflower juice. During the cold winter days, a nice selection of teas is waiting to warm you up. We suggest to order a small pot and try the caramel tea if you love sweets or the mint one if you are a traditionalist. There are always a few types of quiche that they prepare in the open kitchen at the back of the cafe and are perfect for a quick lunch. Cupcakes, freshly baked french croissants and delicious cakes are always a temptation that you can indulge into to get some extra energy.
